The purpose of the project is to promote widespread celebration of Reclaim the Night, especially throughout rural areas, with the aim of raising public awareness about the impact of sexual violence against women and to demand change. Two resources have been produced:
The project has been funded by a grant from the Department of Women. It is an initiative of the Central West Women's Health Centre, Bathurst, in association with the School of Communication, Charles Sturt University - Mitchell, and the Department of Community Development and Primary Care, Mid Western Area Health Service. The project contributes to the efforts of those who are working towards creating non-violent and peaceful futures in their homes, schools, colleges and universities, work sites and communities. It acknowledges that women do this while on the run and amid the cooking, cleaning, child care, community and other work that make up our unpaid and paid daily tasks. It stands as a tribute to women's commitment to Reclaim the Night and to reducing sexual violence and abuse against women and children. We dedicate it to All those unsung women who proudly march the streets to Reclaim the Night across the globe
