The NSW Domestic Violence Committee Coalition (DVCC) was jointly founded by experienced community workers Joy Goodsell and Betty Green in March of 2006 in direct response to the increased numbers of women’s deaths in New South Wales.

In January of that year the media had reported on the domestic violence related deaths of 6 women in January alone.

The DVCC allows people and organisations that might not otherwise feel able to engage in advocacy to openly participate at varying levels.

The DVCC brings together the combined energy, expertise and talent of the domestic violence liaison committee network in New South Wales.

The DVCC is a grass roots organisation that engages in activism to raise the profile of women’s policy and place domestic violence firmly on the public and political agenda.

Approximately 76 women are killed each year by an intimate partner
