Decriminalise Abortion
Women demand the right to decide!

The first International Women's Day march in Adelaide in 1972 proclaimed that: Women need, women demand:

  • Equal pay
  • Free contraceptives
  • Abortion on demand
  • Free 24-hour child care
  • Equal job definitions and opportunities
  • No sexist advertising or exploitative consumerism

Over 30 years later - how many of these basic demands have been met?

IWD demands made by Australian women over time:

  • Sovereignty for Black Australia

  • Abolish ALL anti-abortion Laws

  • Tax the rich not the poor

  • Fight Poverty

  • Stop attacks on unionism

  • Reform the Industrial Relations Act

  • Free Dita Sari

  • Free all political prisoners

  • No to Voluntary Student Unionism

  • Demand Equality for Women

  • Adequately fund public services

  • End sexist and ageist media images

  • End racist and homophobic media

  • Equal Relationship Rights regardless of sexual preference

  • Free Heather Osland - 'allow' women to defend their lives and families

  • No GST - it hasn't worked elsewhere

  • End two party dominance of Oz politics
